Charles Darwin University has been named on the shortlist for a national award, following success in the education category at the Chief Minister’s Northern Territory Export and Industry Awards in Darwin.

CDU won the Austrade Education and Training Award for outstanding innovation and international success in the field of education and training services, expertise and curriculum including vocational training.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover said the win was apt recognition for the university’s investment into developing its international strategy.

“We are very proud that in 2013 we recorded a growth of 300 per cent in international student enrolments compared to 2006, a statistic that is in stark contrast to the national trend of load contraction since 2009,” Professor Glover said.

“We use technological innovations to deliver a unique educational experience that has resulted in numerous national and international forms of recognition. Consequently we are now ranked among the top 2 per cent of young universities in the world.”

CDU and other category winners from the Northern Territory will progress as finalists in the Australian Export Awards on November 26 in Melbourne.
