Big rigs stretched dozens of city blocks during this year’s Brisbane Convoy for Kids on October 26, which raised tens of thousands of dollars for childrens’ charities.

Organisers say over 244 trucks took part in the convoy across the city, making this the largest year in the event’s history.

Brisbane Convoy for Kids organiser Leanne Dinning said a tight fund-raising race was held between three businesses vying for the lead place in the convoy, with firms Land Transport, Scuzztrans and ER Logistics battling it out to buy the banner-bearing spot.

In the end organisers report Land Transport donated $10,000 to roll at the front of the convoy.

In total, Ms Dinning expected the trucks raised over $25,000 to be donated to Riding for the Disabled and $2,500 to TRUST.
