Expressions of Interest – Specialist Project Engineer / Engineering Manager – Mechanical, Civil, Electrical 

WaterNSWis enhancin g its in-house Project Delivery expertise and is inviting Associate/Principal level Engineers to apply for upcoming opportunities in 2024. 

This is an opportunity for resourceful and highly regarded Engineers that are skilled at problem solving, engaging with stakeholders, managing design activities, and that can then ensure implementation to meet all technical standards and user requirements. Our assets are substantial and form part of a complex system designed to ensure we can deliver water, where and when it matters. 

Preferred location is in Parramatta, but we are open to any location in NSW.

What you will do:

  • Supporting others to explore the best solutions to repair, replace or amplify our assets around the state.  
  • Demonstrating your skill and passion for engineering analysis and problem solving and then working with stakeholders to appreciate your vision and to work through decision-making in a timely and effective manner. 
  • Supporting the negotiation and management of design contracts working closely with consultants and other specialist engineering services required to enable the delivery of projects.  
  • Identifying options and selecting preferred or recommended solutions to meet project needs, including assessment of delivery schedules and associated costs. 
  • Supporting all project design processes ensuring all relevant engineering specifications and standards are met through design and construction. 
  • Undertaking review activities as well as mentoring internal staff as you demonstrate your experience and expertise. 
  • Supporting the Manager in analysing program performance, reviewing key metrics, and validating recommendations 

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably higher tertiary qualifications) in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering 
  • A collaborative professional that can demonstrate successful team development with skills in the management, mentoring and coaching towards a high performing team. 
  • Experience supporting and leading technical staff, providing coaching, mentoring, and ensuring effective and efficient service delivery. 
  • Extensive experience in supporting the engineering and design aspects of multiple multidisciplinary complex infrastructure projects; experience in water infrastructure is advantageous but not essential. 
  • Effective communicator with demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and facilitating meetings/workshops to determine appropriate solutions to technical challenges through evaluation of options. And your ability to simplify the complex and negotiate in a collaborative manner will be well regarded.
