Monbeef s a world-class processing plant taking quality beef from South Eastern Australia to the nation and the world.
Job Description
The Health, Safety and Training Advisor provides effective, efficient, and best practice health, safety and training services to Monbeef employees and visitors. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will support frontline leaders to implement practices and processes that achieve the organisation’s health and safety objectives. You will be the main point of contact for all things health, safety and training for the site and will be active and visible with team members and leaders on the production floor. Using a proactive approach to engagement, you will play a pivotal role in driving and embedding a culture of care, targeting best practice levels of safety and legislative compliance, ensuring effective ways of working, policies, procedures and WHS managements systems are in place to provide maintain the highest level of safety awareness, occupational health and injury prevention.
The role will be supported by the Group Head of Health & Safety and operate within the group H&S governance framework.
A typical day in this varied role will include:
- Leading and championing a positive health & safety culture across the site by conducting site walks and engaging with leaders and team members
- Promoting and supporting the identification of health & safety hazards, risks and risk controls in liaison with department managers/ supervisors and ensure the provision of relevant Safe Work Instructions
- Coordinating the H&S Critical Risk Management Program to keep our senior leaders focused on being proactive
- Coordinating the Site Safety Committee to ensure priority issues for team members are heard and resolved
- Facilitating event investigations and closure of corrective actions
- Delivery of induction to new team members
- Creation and review of Safe Work Instructions
- Assessing team members competency in skill based activities
- Owning all external training coordination for site team members
Desired Skills and Experience
About you:
- You have experience in a similar role, including incident investigation & risk assessments, ideally within a manufacturing or similar blue collar industry
- You may have tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety, or are keen to acquire
- You're able to build rapport easily and can lead others with or without authority
- You're highly organised and can manage multiple priorities comfortably
