An opportunity exists for a proactive and energetic Health & Safety Business Partner to join our national Health and Safety team, supporting a cluster of sites within Boral’s Sydney Concrete businesses.

Reporting to a Senior Health & Safety Business Partner, the primary focus is to support our operational teams to be more effective in their roles, in turn creating a safer workplace for all. You will assist with driving, facilitating and implementing significant and meaningful health and safety improvements across a diversified operational portfolio. Operating as a true business partner, you will relish the opportunity to travel to site on a regular basis to engage with leaders and employees on site and really understand their challenges, creating learning opportunities from issues and incidents to enable them to perform more effectively. A central part of this role is to build an intimate understanding of our operations and forge strong and lasting relationships with stakeholders so as to drive good safety outcomes.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity and candidates must have the flexibility to travel to various sites across the South Eastern region of Sydney. To support in this, you will be provided with a motor vehicle allowance.

Your day will involve:

  • Constructively working with and supporting operational leaders on risk management
  • Building the operational teams collective health and safety capacity by providing specialist health and safety advice, support and coaching
  • Focusing the Product Lines efforts on understanding and managing its risk profile, verifying critical control implementation and in identifying and coordinating risk reduction, improvement and assurance activities
  • Supporting the roll out and implementation of the Boral Health & Safety Strategy
  • Facilitation and management of incident response and subsequent analysis and learnings
  • Supporting the operations in appropriate preparation, management and response to HSE Regulatory Compliance inspections, audits, statutory reports and prescribed incident notifications
  • Facilitating the implementation of the HSEQ Management System & National Programs
  • Maintaining oversight of HSE risk registers and facilitating operational risk assessment/SWMS reviews
  • Reviewing and validating the management of Contractors in line with the Assurance program.
  • Ensure Assurance Audits are completed in line with the Audit and Assurance Program and monitor closeout of WHS actions.

What are we looking for?

  • A positive and proactive approach with a willingness and commitment to partnering with and supporting operational teams
  • A curious mind with a willingness to embraces new ideas and different approaches
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally with strong skills in incident investigations
  • Proven experience with implementing successful organisational change within complex environments
  • Knowledge of WHS regulations, systems, processes and Information Systems
  • Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety
  • Superior interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and communication skills with a natural ability to build solid relationships
