Senior Manager Traffic and Disruptions 

About MRPV

Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) was established to deliver a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of key road projects across Victoria, including new roads, road widenings, new bridges and major freeway upgrades. MRPV manages complex and strategically important road projects from business case development through to completion connecting local communities and supporting Victoria's growing economy.

The Role

We now have a vacancy for a Senior Manager - Traffic and Disruptions to join our team on a three-year fixed term basis.  Reporting to the Director Delivery Services, this role will oversee the strategic direction and advise MRPV's stakeholders on the implementation of safe temporary traffic management.  This role will also be responsible for the advancement of MRPV's reputation and excellence in these areas, as well as the management of associated disruptive impacts.

This role requires technical skills in temporary traffic management; experience in developing systems and improvement initiatives; leadership and management skills and the ability to establish strong and effective working relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the generation of strategic directions for MRPV that respond to opportunities, issues, risks and initiatives for temporary traffic management and disruptions, to support MRPV's position as an industry leader in this field.
  • Strategically and proactively represent MRPV and its program of work in interactions with key stakeholders for temporary traffic management and network management. Develop highly effective work interfaces between MRPV and major stakeholders Including DoT, ODG, MTIA projects and, where necessary, advocate for MRPV projects.
  • Manage and lead a small centralised team of specialists and maintain communication channels and support networks for project teams. Ensure on-road works are well planned, implemented and coordinated with other works on the transport network.
  • Lead the development of systems, processes, guidance, training, and other tools to support best practice and competency in temporary traffic management and disruptions.  Provide high quality, reliable and timely information regarding the MRPV program of traffic events.
  • Quantitatively assess MRPV and contractor performance in temporary traffic management and disruption management and utilise information to improve practices and processes.
  • Investigate and champion innovation, best practice and continuous improvement in temporary traffic management and disruption management.

About you

  • Track record of developing constructive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating a confident understanding of others and a measured and flexible approach to resolving issues. Ability to effectively influence stakeholders to negotiate solutions that enable successful project delivery.
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide clear, authoritative, and effective advice to decision makers, through professional verbal and reports on complex technical issues in a politically sensitive environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate complex issues in a manner understandable by a diverse range of external and internal stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in the project management of major infrastructure projects with excellent understanding of temporary traffic management and risk and commercial aspects of various contract models.
  • Strong management skills to support and develop staff to foster a highly effective team.

A relevant qualification in an Engineering or Science related discipline will be highly regarded, as well

as relevant experience in engineering or the construction field and the operating road environment.
