About Us

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) provides air power options for the Australian Government. The Air Warfare Centre (AWC) exists within the Air Force’s Air Command and is critical to establishing the RAAF as a modern and fully integrated combat force that can deliver air and space power effects in the information age. The AWC is supported by a diverse workforce which includes Air Force, Army, Navy, Public Service and Defence Industry personnel.

The Joint Electronic Warfare Operational Support Unit (JEWOSU) is a unit within the Information Warfare Directorate of the AWC and is the centre of excellence for the Australian Defence Organisation on matters of Electronic Warfare (EW). More information on the AWC can be found here.

About the Role

As a Software Developer you will be the creative mind behind the development of world-class software in Countermeasures Development and Validation. You will identify appropriate software and integration solutions which resolve scientific and operations issues associated with the deployment of EW measures. The role involves modelling and analysis of countermeasure systems and the threat response and the integration of models with synthetic scene generation environments.

You will provide high quality advice to military and scientific collaborators and produce technical documentation and reports for a diverse audience which includes senior Defence decision-makers and scientists.  You will also conduct user training sessions. Attendance at the Woomera Test Range and occasionally at international test facilities of Australia’s allies and strategic partners may be required in this role.

About You

We are looking for a talented software developer who will be able to quickly adapt to this environment and develop expertise in this niche role. You will have sound analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex problems intuitively or systematically. You will be a collaborator who will build trusting relationships with a diverse range of customers and stakeholders by understanding their needs and delivering on their expectations within their specified timeframes.

You will be interested in self-development to keep up to date with fast-changing trends and have the necessary research skills for ensuring that modelling and simulation activities will continue to meet the future needs.
