The Australian Government is laying the foundations for a nationwide Naval Shipbuilding Enterprise to support the implementation of the Naval Shipbuilding Plan. The Plan outlines the Australian Government’s vision for the Australian Naval Shipbuilding Enterprise and the significant investment required in coming decades. Modernisation of our naval forces is a complex, national endeavour aimed at building and sustaining Australia’s naval capabilities. It will create economic growth through Australian industry involvement and in securing Australian jobs for future generations through a continuous naval shipbuilding industry.

The Naval Shipbuilding Enterprise in Defence comprises:

Submarine Domain: whose focus is to ensure Australia has an enduring and potent submarine capability by working with Navy and industry counterparts in a submarine enterprise.

Ships Division: who have a major role in progressing a number of complex and ambitious shipbuilding programs to modernise the Royal Australian Navy.

Maritime Systems Division: who are responsible for all maritime acquisition and sustainment business conducted through Maritime Support Branch, Major Surface Ships Branch, and Specialist Ships Branch.
