Water Maintenance Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a capable and hardworking Water Maintenance Officer who has an interest in the water industry to join our team!

As a member of our collaborative team, you will undertake preventative and reactive maintenance tasks at our Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre.

This role offers a generous salary of $67,977 plus 20% annualised component after satisfactory completion of probation. Your work location also looks across one of Canberra's most stunning views.

A day in the life of a Water Maintenance Officer…

  • Undertake scheduled preventative tasks
  • Respond to reactive maintenance tasks
  • Co-ordinate task completion within available team resources and operational and procedural constraints
  • Complete documentation and reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call roster
  • Assist in the identification of workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments and work in accordance with implemented safe work practices and procedures

 About Icon Water

Icon Water is responsible for owning and operating Canberra’s network of water and wastewater infrastructure and assets including dams, reservoirs, water and sewerage treatment plants, water and sewerage pumping stations to ensure the delivery of safe drinking water and reliable sewerage services. Icon Water has been part of the Canberra community for 100 years.

What we are looking for?

  • Experience in working safely with chemicals
  • Willingness and ability to participate in appropriate training programs and emergency on-call rosters.
  • Physical ability to work in water and sewage treatment plants. This includes long periods of strenuous labour, working in the vicinity of air borne dust and chemicals, working in the vicinity of raw sewage, working from heights, working in confined spaces and the use of ladders and staircases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and cooperate with other trades, individuals and work groups.
  • High levels of motivation, self-reliance and initiative.
  • Ability to work under limited direction and supervision both as an individual and as a member of a small, self-directed work group.
