Safety Superintendent

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Safety Superintendent for a transformative decarbonisation project in the mining sector on a 2:1 roster. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well--being of team members on-site during the construction of both a solar and wind farm to allow for the transition away from fossil fuel power generation to renewable clean energy for their operations.

Responsibilities:

As the Safety Superintendent, your key duties will include:

• Review, develop, and maintain the OHS Management System, ensuring continuous compliance through regular audits.
• Contribute to the development of OHS department goals aligned with the Sustainable Development plan.
• Support site operations in implementing and sustaining the Critical Hazard Standards system.
• Coordinate safety initiatives, OHS performance outcomes, and management plans.
• Facilitate significant incident investigations, developing strategies to prevent re-occurrence.
• Develop, maintain, and deliver internal OHS-related training programs.
• Collaborate on weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports internally and externally.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring effective identification and management of workplace risks.

Key Criteria:

• Tertiary degree in OHS or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction and/or heavy industry.
• Extensive knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
• Demonstrated experience in OHS within operational settings, including risk management, emergency response, and injury management in the mining sector.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, coupled with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
