Paroo Shire is situated in South West Queensland covering an area of 47,727 km2. Cunnamulla is the Shire’s administrative centre with surrounding townships of Wyandra, Eulo and Yowah. Agricultural production, particularly livestock, dominates the area’s economy with retail, transport and storage, personal services, health and community services, accommodation, hospitality, tourism being other significant enterprise sectors. An opportunity has arisen for a technical professional to join Council’s Executive Management Team in the role of Director Infrastructure.

Reporting to the CEO and managing a team of up to 50 staff, this challenging role is responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of Council’s works and infrastructure assets and for providing Council with high quality construction and maintenance programs for roadworks, bridges, water, waste and parks and gardens. You will also ensure efficient and effective financial management and performance of Council, that the Shire is appropriately resourced and demonstrating strong leadership, enhance relationships with staff, internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate is a tertiary qualified Civil Engineer with extensive management experience in civil engineering, road maintenance / construction or similar. RPEQ status, or eligibility, will be well regarded, as will experience in Road Maintenance Performance Contract (RMPC) contract administration,maintenance of water supply and waste management systems and knowledge of the other relevant Acts and Legislation relevant to the role.
