The Role

The Senior Protection and Control Engineer is accountable for providing engineering leadership during operation of SA Power Networks electricity network and external customer installations. 

The Senior Protection and Control Engineer will provide expertise and information primarily related to the protection and control discipline, namely ;

  • protection settings for normal and abnormal conditions
  • protection setting reports
  • bench test and prepare technical documentation for commissioning protection systems
  • specific engineering direction and information to project team members, leaders and managers
  • mentor other protection group team engineers and technical officers in IEC61850
  • provide a consultative service for SA Power Networks Strategic Protection Philosophies.
  • estimating and tendering information

Requirements

The successful candidate will require experience as a professional electrical engineer specialising in protection and control.  Chartered Professional Engineer as defined eligible for registration on NPER3 register. You would be required to achieve this within 12 months.   You must hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, that will allow admission as Member of Institute of Engineers, Australia.Design capability in IEC61850 is essential.
