Job Description

As Project Manager Civil Construction Engineer you will provide construction management for infrastructure projects incorporating civil engineering and urban design initiatives in drainage upgrades, road refurbishments, open space and urban design improvements.

You will manage a broad range of projects managed across the organisation using your experience in applying sound engineering principles, to civil and structural works as well as urban and landscape projects. You will also maximise project-delivery and minimise delays by arranging priorities to ensure all project activities are completed according to the works program. Using your solid understanding and experience with safe work practices you can effectively monitor contractors OHS performance on site to ensure public safety and staff safety.

You will also:

  • Carry out civil construction works supervision for Engineering projects
  • Assess the impact of works by utility authorities on infrastructure assets and consult with internal departments, service authorities and other stakeholders at various stages throughout the project
  • Procure contractors under council’s procurement policy and manage the contracts for the duration of the project.

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary range of $88,661 - $96,020 per annum + 10.5% superannuation and a monthly day off arrangement. Flexible working hours and Hybrid work arrangement options are available upon discussion with the Team Leader and Coordinator. Desired Skills and Experience

To thrive in this role you will have:

  • An understanding of project management civil engineering principles and applying them in a dense urban environment 
  • An understanding of contract management and administration to negotiate outcomes on behalf of council
  • Analytic reporting skills as well as excellent written communication skills
  • Well-developed influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • An ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals
  • Well-developed knowledge of engineering assessment techniques of footpaths, roads and drains
  • Well-developed technical understanding of the method of calculating material quantities and preparing engineering estimates.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the application relevant engineering codes and standards and State legislation 
  • A bachelor of Civil Engineering and extensive practical experience in civil engineering construction. Professional Engineers Registration desirable.
