Planning Investigations Officer

Our Planning team is seeking a Planning Investigations Officer to join them on a permanent full time basis.

 

The role

You will be a key point of contact between the Development Planning Section and enforcement staff of other sections of Council, including staff from Banyule Building Permits and Inspections, Local Laws, Environmental Health and Construction.

  • Gain access to ongoing learning & development opportunities
  • Flexible work arrangements and a RDO every 4 weeks
  • $81,372 - $88,466.00 plus super

You will:

  • Investigate and resolve complaints in relation to alleged breaches of the Banyule Planning Scheme and the Planning and Environment Act 1987
  • Proactively seek compliance with the Banyule Planning Scheme and related policies of Council through the undertaking of appropriate enforcement and liaison/mediation action.

The criteria:

  • Degree or Diploma in planning enforcement, or lesser qualifications with substantial experience in statutory planning or planning enforcement
  • A sound understanding of the Planning Scheme and the Planning and Environment Act 1987, including provisions in relation to enforcement of the Scheme and the Act 
  • An ability to display empathy and self-awareness and work with others to achieve a mutually agreeable outcome 
  • Previous experience in delivering high quality fast paced service to diverse customers
  • A high level of professional and personal integrity
  • A high level of proficiency in the Microsoft office suite and industry related software
  • Proven experience working accurately and efficiently in the maintenance of records.
  • A current Drivers Licence.
