Arrow Energy is an integrated coal seam gas (CSG) company that explores and develops gas fields, produces and sells CSG and generates electricity.

Arrow produces CSG from fields in the Surat Basin in southern Queensland and the Bowen Basin in central Queensland. We have been safely and sustainably developing CSG since 2000 and supplying it commercially since 2004.

We own one of Queensland's largest power stations, Braemar 2 near Dalby, and we have interests in two others, giving us enough generation capacity to power around 800,000 homes. Arrow is owned by a joint venture company between Shell and PetroChina.

At Arrow, safety is our highest priority, and our values – lead, own, solve, integrate and respect – underpin everything we do.  To meet our growing demands, we are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our team.

Reporting to the Senior HSE Advisor - Risk and Process Safety (Operations Support), you will be accountable for ensuring process safety across Capital projects and Operations projects in various project lifecycle stages (ranging from pre-FEED to Execute). Projects will include wells, (gas and water), gas facilities (including inlet processing and compression facilities) and water treatment facilities.

In addition you will:
  • Provide technical leadership in the area of Process Safety in projects. This includes, effective consultation with key (internal and external) project stakeholders in relation to Process Safety Management.
  • Develop and implement project process safety strategies, plans and philosophies to ensure integration of inherent safety and hierarchy of risk reduction principles.
  • Manage / Support definition and execution of the process safety engineering scope of work and schedule during each project lifecycle stage.
  • Ensure process safety integration and alignment with project engineering via review and input into multi-discipline engineering deliverables / activities (Basis of Design; Operating Philosophy, etc.).
  • Manage / Supervise / Support execution of the hazard management process, including hazard identification; consequence assessment (flammable / toxic dispersion, fire and explosion); risk assessment (Inc. QRA); and risk mitigation.
  • Manage / Supervise / Support execution of safety workshops, including Hazard Identification (HAZID); Hazard & Operability (HAZOP); Safety Integrity Level (SIL); Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) Risk Assessments; layout and model reviews.
  • Supervise safety system design activities (calculations, assessments and reviews) for the Emergency Shutdown (ESD) and blowdown system; flare and vent systems; Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS); and the Fire & Gas (F&G) detection system.
  • Manage / Support ALARP demonstration and safety case development, i.e. document risk reduction through the design lifecycle, via incorporation of outcomes from the above process safety activities.
  • Support operations readiness and assurance via development of asset integrity documentation, i.e. safety critical element identification; performance standard development and schemes for inspection, testing and maintenance.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Process Safety Engineering or Process Engineering).
  • Relevant Professional Engineering Membership qualification (preferable).
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (or eligible).
  • Proven extensive working Process Safety experience in Operations and Projects within the Oil and Gas industry, preferably Coal Seam Gas.
  • Ability to apply the knowledge of the regulatory framework in which Arrow operates.
  • Proven project management experience.
