Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Advisor – x3 Positions Available

The Role(s)

  • 3 positions available – ranging from immediate to May start dates
  • 2x1 FIFO roster, working onsite at the Robe Valley Sustaining project for Rio Tinto
  • Currently both short and long term opportunities available, but all with the view of moving to long term/permanent positions

Due to company growth, our Health and Safety team is rapidly expanding and these opportunities offer the chance to be part of this new and growing team. Reporting to the HSEQ Manager you will help to build a team culture where health and safety are the top priority for every Guma-Warnii employee. You will be responsible for providing the effective onsite promotion of the company HSEQ management systems and objectives, ensuring legislative compliance is maintained at all times, and providing advice and support to the project leadership team. 

This is not an entry-level position – we are ideally looking for those who have at least 5 years’ experience in an HSE Advisor role, working in a similar environment. 

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Liaise directly with project management, and other internal roles, including clients, suppliers, engineers, vendors and other sub-contractors as required to ensure all aspects of the projects are safely executed and compliant with client and company policies and procedures.
  • Actively contribute to the implementation and continuous review of the Project HSEQ Management Plan, policies, procedures and programs to ensure legislative and client compliance
  • Actively promote a positive culture of healthy lifestyle choices and safe work practices.
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of task risk assessments (incl JHA, T5 etc)
  • Conduct and oversee site inspections and audits, pre-start meetings and toolbox meetings.
  • Coordinate, implement and deliver training programs and onsite inductions
  • Ensure environmental and heritage responsibilities are adhered to and ensure all workers understand personal and company obligations

Qualifications 

  • Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or a related discipline is mandatory. Previous experience in Auditing, Training and Assessment and First Aid is desirable.
  • Essential Work Experience and Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in HSEQ Advisor position.
  • Previous experience within the civil construction, mining and/or oil & gas industries within a project environment, working on a FIFO roster, would be highly advantageous.
  • Proven ability and knowledge of risk management and prevention, incident investigation and incident reporting.
  • Solid understanding of OHS Acts, Regulations, Standards, Codes and Guidelines in Western Australia. This also includes knowledge of any proposed or future changes to applicable legislation.
  • Previous experience in quality control and auditing along with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships and a demonstrated business acumen.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively both autonomously and within a team environment.
