Overview


This workshop is designed for anyone who is currently working in the coal industry and whose role involves exploration reporting and/or who works with geoscientific data in NSW. The aim is provide an overview of the different reporting requirements, introduce new online systems designed to assist geoscientists in managing the exploration reporting processes and showcase the vast array of available geological and geoscientific data for New South Wales.

The workshop is designed to be interactive, giving attendees the opportunity to explore the data and online systems under the guidance of the subject matter experts from DPE’s Resources and Geoscience division. It is necessary for attendees to bring along their own laptops and mouse (preferably with a scroll wheel).

The workshop will include sessions on:

  • Reporting Requirements

  • A guide to the CoalLog

  • SEED Portal - environmental mapping for miners and explorers

  • Rehabilitation GIS Portal

  • Getting the most out of MinView

  • Unlocking data in the DIGS system

  • 3D modelling of the Sydney-Gunnedah and Bowen basins
