General Electric (GE) has announced plans to open an $80 million custom-built state-of-the-art resources technology and learning complex at Jandakot Airport in Western Australia.

The facility will support the training of the next generation of skilled workers in the oil and gas, energy, mining, transportation and water industries.

The GE complex, designed as a multi-purpose facility and headquarters for the company’s operations in Perth, includes workshops to service and commission products and technology in WA along with the Learning and Development facility.

The president and CEO for GE Australia and New Zealand, Steve Sargent, said the centre would provide skills to ensure maximum value from projects like Western Australia's Gorgon gas hub.
